“Bobs are defining 2026, from the French bob to the Italian cut, and textured hair is where they really shine,” says celebrity hairstylist Nicolas Flores. However, not every bob is well-suited for textured or curly hair. The expert says the key “is letting the texture guide the shape rather than over-layering or forcing the movement,” making a consultation essential so your stylist can tailor the cut to you.

“A successful bob isn’t just about density—face shape plays an equally important role,” adds professional hairstylist Tania Lacoste Major. “Length placement gives you the opportunity to highlight features or subtly soften areas a guest may feel less confident about. Small adjustments in length can completely change how a bob feels on someone.”

“For me, a one-length blunt bob will always be the biggest statement,” says professional hairstylist Harrison, who notes it looks amazing when worn natural, sleek or blown out. Lacoste Major says she’s also recently been drawn to blunt bobs, especially when paired with bangs, as the cut feels elegant and modern.

However, Lacoste Major notes that if you plan on getting a blunt bob cut, you need to be ready to embrace a stronger shape, especially if you have thick or textured hair. “A great reference is Ayo Edebiri’s bob. For fuller textures, Flores recommends the Italian bob, a cut defined by volume and movement. Typically falling anywhere between the chin and shoulders, the style often features face-framing pieces and soft layers. The result “offers a rich, more elongated shape that feels polished yet relaxed,” says Flores—an easy match for textured hair, whether blown out or worn natural.
